I am proud to announce a new show. It will be this Sunday March 20th at Tavern on the Tracks. I will be playing out on the patio so you better stop by and catch some rays while enjoying $5 award winning bloody mary's! What better way to kill a Saturday night hangover than good tunes and Bloody Mary's! Stay tuned for more information about playing at this venue. It may become a regular appearence Sunday afternoons or Friday happy hours! Either way, we are going to rock out! Also, don't forget about the show on Sat. March 26th at THE GIN MILL! one of my favorite venues to play..... always guaranteed a good time!

Last night I had a solo acoustic show at Thurstons Bar with Mikey B. I HAD A BLAST:) I played the first set. Played for about 2 hours. After I played I got to sit in on Mikey B's set playing Djembe. Man, that was killer. I don't get the opertunity to kill it on the drum much because I'm always playing guitar/singing, so I had a blast doing it!! Hope I can do it more frequently. The next show coming up is at the Gin Mill March 26th. We are also doing a charity event in May for Relay for life. We will be on the big stage jamming till we can't jam no mo!!!

Oh yea...... TGIF!!!!!!! Big St. Patty's day pub crawl with a ton of friends tomorrow:) I'M STOKED!!! CAN'T WAIT!

Song of the day: Badfish by Sublime......... one of the best bands of all time

So I gotta talk about this singer Adele. I'm not usually to keen on female singers, just not my style, but man can this girl wail! I caught her unplugged show last night on Palladia and it was amazing. She just simply has it all: powerful, soulful, delicate, range, etc, you name it she has it.

So it's another beautiful day today. Didn't get much accomplished as far as the recording went yesterday, hopefully today will be different. We will see. I think there will be a brewski or 2 in my future when I get home from work. Nothing like having a cold one and jamming out:)
Song of the day: Someone like you by Adele........ simply amazing

This past weekend was pretty uneventful. Crappy weather had a lot to do with it. Rained all weekend! I did however manage to get my oil changed, I know everyone wants to hear about that. It's nice to have relaxing weekends here and there on occasion. I will just have to make up for it this weekend I guess ;) So this coming thursday I am playing a solo show with Mikey B at Thurstons Bar. Should be a good time:) Hope to see everyone there! The weather is finally better today, kinda chilly (61 degrees) but at least it is sunny! I think I may go home today after work and try to lay down another track for you guys. I will keep you updated.

Song of the day: No Games by Serani.......... lil rasta music for all you raggae fans:)

This has been one of the longest weeks ever! I'm so ready for the weekend, unfortunately I'm starting to not feel that well. Hopefully it is just a 24 hour bug. So I know everyone is curious if I met my goal of 185 at my bowling league. Drum roll please...................... KILLED IT:) I bowled a 202, 165, and a 205! The kid is back! we will see if I can keep it up next week. Last night I went to Johnny's house and laid down two new tracks. THEY SOUND AMAZING:) I will post them soon. If anyone has any recommendations on where to play this summer, please let me know. We would love to branch out to more areas and play some cool venues. I went to Brazwells Wed. night for a drink and got to talking to one of the managers. Hopefully we will be able to get in there this summer. It is a pretty sweet place. Spread the word of Atlas Shrug!

Song of the day: We Cry by The Script............. Great energy on this tune

So starting off, 20/20 was awesome last night lol. How entertaining is Charlie Sheen! He says some crazy things. So back to the life that is Matty Stegs. Tonight is the bowling league. Last week I started off extremely hot and fizzled out. I had a goal of 200 and my high score was 174. WEAK! This week I am shooting for 185. I need to get my game back! I've been thinking about purchasing my own ball. I think it would be beneficial. What do you think?
After bowling I'm probably going to head up to Thurstons for their open mic once again. Possibly Brazwells tho. I want to talk to the managers there about possibly playing there this summer. I think it would be a blast. If I go to Thurstons, I'm going to break out the new djembe. Check out the photo on the home page. Obviously, I will be busting out a few tunes as well. What should I sing?

Song of the day: In your atmosphere by John Mayer...... awesome harmonics!

I can't get enough of this guy! He's like a bad car accident, it's awful but you just can't look away! The whole spectical is wildly entertaining. On one hand, I can't blame him for what he's doing (he's living the life he wants and chooses and having a blast doing it), BUT man oh man, the dude has a family and kids! He can't be doing this kinda stuff when he has children. What kind of example is he setting for them! I am looking forward to seeing him for a full hour tonight on ABC's 20/20. It is going to be one hell of a show. Can't wait to see what he has to say. I can't believe some of the things that come out of his mouth lololol, he is halarious! I'm just going to sit back with a bowl of popcorn and enjoy the show:) Everyone should do the same!

Song of the day: Nothing ever hurt like you by James Morrison..... has a great soulful feel to it.... check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxEZZ8PEQW4

Sorry, I kinda flaked this weekend on the daily blog. However, it was a really busy weekend! Sorta upset I missed the Slightly stoopid show last night at Amos's southend. I heard they put on one hell of a show. Instead, I stayed in and watched the new Wallstreet. Pretty good flick, I think Shia Lebouf is a pretty good actor and gotta love Michael Douglas. Weather wise it was an amazing weekend. 82 degrees yesterday (Amazing). Took the dog on a 3 mile walk and went to the park too. Needless to say, he slept well last night. It's supposed to be another 80 degree day but were supposed to get some crazy thunder and lightening storms this evening. HOPE SO!:)
Big news: Added a new 12 in. Remo Leon Mobley signature model djembe to my collection!!! It is a beautiful piece of art! Sounds amazing! Don't forget about my solo acoustic show March 10th at Thurston's Bar and Duo show March 26th at The Gin Mill!

Song of the day: Wiseman by Slightly Stoopid...... so mad I didn't make it last nite:(

Just woke up a little bit ago, the sun is shining and I'm already bored! Thinking about starting the day off with a mimosa ;) Gotta lot to do today though. Need to hit up Guitar Center (FUN PART OF THE DAY), get car washed (inside and out), gotta hit up scary WalMart (bad part of the day), find a computer repair place, and lastly, hit up the liquor store:) I don't have much planned for the rest of the evening, but I hope something fun turns up! I'm in need of a fun night out on the town.

Well the sun is shinning, maybe the dog will get lucky and we'll take him to the park or the dog bar.

Leave some ideas if you like!!!

Song of the day: Ok, it's alright with me by Eric Hutchinson

I would like to announce that "The Atlas Shrug Project" will be playing a live acoustic show Saturday March 26th at THE GIN MILL on South Tryon in South End!!! Last time we all had a blast and we are so happy The GIN MILL has asked us back again! It was one of my favorite venues we have performed at to date! GOOD PEOPLE, GOOD STAFF, GOOD DRINKS, GOOD MUSIC!!!! So make sure you stop by and bring your dancing shoes!!!

Also, I (Matty Stegs) will be performing a solo acoustic show with Mikey B,
Thursday March 10th  at THURSTON'S off Woodlawn! SAVE THE DATE b/c we will be rocking out hard!

I know all of you are wondering if I accomplished my goal of 200 last night at my bowling league. Unfortunately my high game was only 174.......... very disappointing
made me cry :( but seriously, who starts off a game with 5 strikes in a row followed by 5 open frames!!!! WTF STEGS! I need to step up my game. Gotta bring the heat next week!

Song of the day: Rosa Parks by Outkast......oldie but a goodie, and it's Black History month! Check it out all you youngins!
